So Ell and I firgured with the new DM up we should have a whole discussion with the Org to decide where we want this Org to go and how we're going to do that. Some starter questions I think we need to address:
+ What do you want to do to earn points?
+ What is going to be the purpose of the societies?
+ Who is going to recruit and how?
+ Do we want to be super chill or more organized?
+ What should we do to promote more familial relations within the Org?
The list goes on forever. We want to hear what you guys have to say though before we change anything because it does directly affect you.
I know you guys love debates so...
Discuss
We want to know how you feel about the Aiel and what changes you want to see so that we can be a better Org.

I think the number of points it takes to get raised is bit high, it's even harder to get raised here then in the tower.
And for how to reward points just reward them as you think they should be rewarded.
The purpose sociates I think should be the same as the WT and the Ajahs, just let you seperate with you truelly like to be around, but still lets you go to others as well.I personally think that we don't have enough active members yet for the sociates/clans to be effective, but that might be just me.
I prefer the super chill. But I think we should be more superficial, just because things that are more superficially get things don more effectively.
Recruting I think we should just be more receptive to newbs. I realize tha I am the main person who is not being receptive to newbs, but I'll try to be better.
I'm not sure how to promote the familial relations, although I think something that would be good would be to have the org disscussion be on more light hearted things.
The last observation I'l mkae is that if anyone thinks I'm becomeing inactive could someone be asigned to email me about it, because school is really hecteic right now now that my cauase me to zoom in and out of existence even htough there's no reason for me to. (When school gets hectic I don't actually do work, so I might as well be here.)

That is so true... At least for me.
As for the org... I don't think the point limits are too high. First of all, the last rank limit is already 5 points lower than the others, and I think the full rank should be only for those who really are dedicated to this org. Not to say that the others are not part of it, or as 'inside' in the Aiel org, but as we have very little full ranks right now, it should be almost an honor to achieve it.
The recruiting would be a good thing, but I don't think we need to be overly active about it (not like the Band! )... Welcoming people on the newbie board is usually quite an effective way but I'm not sure we should take turns there on reminding people of our org or anything... That would be a bit too much. All the visitors should be treated accordingly with all respect and cordiality (until they prove to be total asses ) and make sure they are all welcome here. But that's what we've done so far, and I can't see why the new boards would change that. A Welcoming Person wouldn't be a bad thing either, a bit like the Tower's MoN.
The main reason I've always liked this org, and stayed so long is that we are so super chill. So I prefer that, yes. Some organized activities are nice, though. Make people more active, too.
To promote more familial relations...? The old one, 'The Aiel Email Exhange Thing' comes to my mind... That way I learned to know 3/4 of the org at the old boards back in time when I joined. Some games or such, maybe? What if everyone were given a special Aiel friend, a person the other one should be attached to? This could result in something veeery interesting... Hmm.. I need to elaborate that idea.
Ok, these were just my ideas... I know, they are so boring and old-fashioned I should be ashamed... But if it's not broken, why fix it?

Hmmm good question. I personally feel that the point levels are to high and some stuff that should have earned more points hasn't. For instance Cleo did a huge amount of artwork and I can tell you from personal experience as I saw her doing this in my own home it takes a huge amount of time. She did that and she really should have been given more points for it. I think that the point levels should be defined more clearly. Maybe we need to be a bit more organized but still have the chill factor. Maybe assign someone like we have the GLO in the greens who's job is to recruit peeps. It's probably a good idea for it to be an aspie who can earn point for it. That's all I can think of right now.

Here are my thoughts on this.
The points limits seem very sane to me.And the opportunity to get points as they are now seems to be working. Now how often one posts in discussion or be active is another matter.Though if most member think that the point limits are too high there is always the option of increacing the points you get from activity or discussion participation. As far as recruiting goes - I think that every member should have some responsibility for that.I mean most people join the organization where thet have friends, and newbies join the organization mainly based on which organization in the books they liked the most,or which organization they think is most like them.Still Alarwyn's idea for a welcoming person is good.
I personaly preffered things to be more organizaed but superchilled seems to be working so ... if it is not broken do not fix it says I!

For points - I don't think they are too high. If you had seen the points Mat originally had for the Org you'd cry and thank the Gods that be that they are what they are now Jade - what do you mean by defined more clearly? How many you need to earn or how many you get for whatever activity?
Promotion is a good idea but once we promote these newbs, they need something to do which is why I think that some organized activities should be a good idea. I do like the whole idea of restarting the email exchange because that was a sure way of meeting at least two people in the Org rather well.
'Larmie what are you talking about with special friends?? LoL

Yes we need to know how much each thing is worth. For instance making artwork for the store, making avatars, doing a collage. Maybe mainting the website. We all want to act like this system is working, but I don't know that it is. We are barely growing at all. I see way more newbies at the other orgs and I have to wonder why. Maybe I am the only one wondering that but that's what I think.

I like the idea of Alarmie's "Aiel Friend" It's like a WT mentor or something. It's good, and may keep ppl connected and feeling welcomed.
Since I'm really new here, I cant really say what works and what doesnt. I just think there should be definitive projects for points already established if possible. It's hard for ppl to think of stuff on their own.

Well to be quite honest unless people are earning points by being active or by participating in the monthly discussion then there is no other set points. For those two things there is a system that is applied each time. For anything else like artwork, collages, the website, -whatever- it is done on a base by base deal. You want to know why? Because its so incredibly infrequent that things like that are done. Besides, are we going to set the amount of points for someone who does any type of art at (as an example) 5 points when it should be based on how much time and effort they put into it?
I realize we are barely growing and I realize that I am quite possibly the reason why. That's why I want to know what is floating around in your heads. If you would like to propose a new method of doing things then I am all ears.
I like the Aiel Friend idea too Charis

i think dont think the amount of points is any issue ...its what you need to do to get them that will say wheter its hard or not to get promoted
for instance in wt 10 point
so far i need to post to the activety tread when it comes up -> 2 points
be with in the OT project , 2 books -> ? points
made AV's -> migth or migth not get me points
while in sg i need 50 points to get to next rank
made sig for the months DO -> 10 points
put member between book cover named the book and gifted it to the DO 4 times x 5 points -> 20 points
in sg there is also a posibility to gamble with your points and earn or loose some...this i havent tried yet
as such i would say its easier to get the 50 points in SG and we have a blast trying to be creative and spam...than geting the 10 points in WT ..still has fun but much more time taking...specialy reading the books combined with other things like the sigs..the time i used on those could have been spent reading several chapters
aiel friend sounds good i think too...'mentors' is always fun *s*
as for societies...ooo can the maidens be the fierce flirty happy bunch *grins and thinks on maidens kiss*

Since I am totally technologically challenged, I can't really add to the Aiel Store, but I will be able to do anything reguarding the books or any sort of organizational thing. Plus, as a newB, An Aiel Friend would be very, very nice
BTW, I am an initiate and would love some points!

Hmm perhaps we should have one of those? That sounds like a good thing for someone who is really active and likes to meet new people and is pretty knowledgeable about how we operate here
One other thing that I think we -need- to discuss ASAP - societies and clans. Should we let them develop into their own little personal groups or should they have some sort of defined role?

compromise? let them develop into their own defined roles
like example it wouldnt help much to say the stone dogs should be music lovers if the curent stone dogs aint and new stone dogs join cause they like what the old ones are ..etc and such none of the stone dogs actualy care about music...but rather is game fanatics..
no point in calling a piece of iron for a diamond...it wont become less of a piece of iron anyway..

i rarely say much here anymore. at first i was soo excited and wanted to be involved. i offered to help out whenever projects were up for grabs and always was met by stone cold silence. It would be nice if the new people were welcomed a little better. i have toyed with changing orgs, but really wanted to wait and see what would happen here. the aiel friend might just do the trick. i've been around since aug of o5 and haven't gotten anywhere here.
i'm not being a whimey one, i just thought it was important to let the powers that be know how unwelcome some of us have felt.

I think clans and societies should be let to develop, this would make more separated images of the clans And we'll know that this society is interested in certain things, the other one has other 'jobs', etc.
Oh, and the Aiel friend sounds *thumbs up* great

Tess, do you think we should have this in the Red Ajah? It'd be great!

Yea, I function like a "GLO" for the Blues now. Except calling me a "BLO" would be *cough* embarrassing... So, I made up my own title - MBA "Manager of Blue Aspies" I have my own Sticky Thread on the Blue board now for my "office." Newbies can stop in and make their presence known, declare for Blue, etc.
I really think it helps.

But then, in smaller Ajahs (like mine) it's usually up to the Sitters to do all that. Having five people 'in power' in an Ajah of four active full rank members... Not very useful, unfortunately. Of course it's different in a big Ajah like Green.
Tess, didn't we talk about this once? About the Welcomer? Hmm.. I think we did.
And I think I'll go and start The Aiel Email Exchange Thing again, that was so much fun at the time, and kept me alive, probably.
Oh, and with the Aiel friend I did mean a person like mentor in the Tower... Maybe not so official though, and they could be only a few too.

Wyn

Uhmm.. I have a question too...
Are Tess and Ell going to be the only ones to give the points? Or will someone else have a say about that too?
