Why Threads Lock and Disappear

Threads are locked when they are or exceed 50 replies, 6 pages. If you're in the middle of something, make a new thread with the key point copy/pasted.
Threads are deleted when they are around one-two month(s) old. No body should miss them, but too bad if you do.
Why are threads being locked and deleted? Because they increase the number of timeouts on DM.
